Celebrate the RAF with the Mighty Delta-Winged Vulcan
As the Royal Air Force marks its centenary, The Royal Mint commemorates this milestone with a collection of coins celebrating 100 years of courage, spirit, and pioneering aviation since 1918. Unmatched by any other bomber from the jet age, the mighty Vulcan is truly an icon of the air and takes its place as the third coin in the series. You can still buy the first two coins, which bear the badge of the RAF and the infamous Spitfire, and another two coins will follow to complete your collection.
In the reverse design, created by brothers Richard and Neil Talbot, the two artists have drawn on their childhood memories of visiting and sitting in the Vulcan. Its impressive size and distinctive shape are set against a large sky, emphasising the power and beauty of the aircraft. This edition of the £2 coin is finished to Brilliant Uncirculated standard, a finer finish than the circulating coins you will find in your change. It comes presented in specially designed packaging that has been created in collaboration with the RAF for the centenary celebrations, including a quote from one of the pilots lucky enough to fly the iconic plane.
