The Powerful and Distinctive Vulcan on a Silver Coin
The Royal Mint has a long history of paying tribute to the Armed Forces, from the medals honouring the heroic men and women of the Royal Air Force in 1918, to the 50p coin commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 2015. Now in 2018, we are proud to join the RAF100 celebrations, striking a collection of five coins to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.
The third coin in the series features the Vulcan, an instantly recognisable bomber thanks to its distinctive delta wing. Unusually, the eye-catching reverse design has been created by two artists, brothers Richard and Neil Talbot. Struck in sterling silver, this version of the limited edition £2 coin is finished to Proof standard and features an inscription marking the dates of the RAF centenary. The coin is presented in packaging, which includes a booklet detailing the famous plane, created in partnership with the RAF.
