HAVE YOU STRUCK A COIN WORTH £350 - CHECK THE ROYAL MINT TOUR MOST VALUABLE LIST

Background

In 2016, The Royal Mint opened it's doors to the public - the factory tour was called The Royal Mint Experience.

As part of the tour, vistors could see coins being struck and take the opportunity (for an additional cost) to press a button to "Strike Your Own" coin.

There have been 52 Strike Your Own (refered to as SYO) coins in special packaging produced by The Royal Mint - they often sell on eBay and Facebook for more than double the cost price.

• The Royal Mint Experience is now in the 10th year of factory tours
• The tour no longer includes the "Circulating Coin Factory in operation" - due to the lack of demand for coins
• The only machine you will see in operation is the "Strike Your Own" (SYO) coin press

Note: Whilst the 2017 version is 4 times rarer - the actual card packaging used for both coin dates was the same. As a result the values for both dates are the same as a 2017 coin could be placed into the packaging and sold as an "original 2017 Newton 50p SYO".

10. 2025 World War II Stories 50p SYO card (with coin) - currently sells on eBay for about £20 to £25

Note: This packaging has been included as it is expected to rise in price - the one day strike before this coin (VE Day) was sold in quite high numbers (about 4758) - we expect the World War II Stories SYO packaging to be about 4 times rarer.

Estimates are based on the maximum number of people taking the tours and expected SYO purchase percentage - as well as the struck coins count that shows on the screen next to the "Strike Your Own" coin press.

The standard cost of a SYO coin in 2025 is £7.95 (maximum of 3 per person). Special events such as 1 day strikes may cost more. (Recent VE Day 50p strike was £10 per coin with a maximum of 5)
