Coin Hunter is an inclusive online coin hunt app that enables everyone in the UK to take part in The Great British Coin Hunt from The Royal Mint.
The app was created to bring the fun of the hunt to all – which includes an estimated 1.5 million people (see note 1 and 2) in the UK who are housebound or find it difficult to leave the house.
Coin Hunter currently has a large diverse user base which includes children learning about coins and money, adults, elderly people, people with physical disabilities and people with a mental disability.
Note 1"In the UK , up to 2 people in 100 have panic disorder. It's thought around a third will go on to develop agoraphobia."
UK population in 2016 was 65.64 million, which means up to 430,000 people in the UK have a mental condition (such as agoraphobia) that can result in a person being housebound."Our social care system relies on the UK’s 7 million unpaid carers."
"Up to 1.5 million people in the UK care for someone with mental ill health."
The remaining 5 million+ care for someone with a physical disability, we have estimated that 1 in 5 would be mobility limiting to the extent that it is difficult to leave the home.
